At Saied Music, we think the phrase “can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is ridiculous. Firstly, because we’re people and not dogs, and secondly, it’s just not true. The key to staying healthy and happy is learning, no matter your age. This is why we have compiled a list of three myths that commonly keep intelligent and capable adults like you from learning an instrument.
MYTH 1: I’m too old to learn to play an instrument
Wrong! Did you know that learning to play an instrument at any age has some serious health benefits? And to receive these benefits, you don’t even need to master your instrument! The act of learning and practicing your instrument, even poorly, is enough to boost memory, lower blood pressure, and reduce your risk of dementia as you age!
MYTH 2: I’m too busy to learn an instrument, I would just be wasting the teacher’s time
Our instructors understand the chaos of life. You will never experience one of our music teachers shaming you for getting busy and forgetting to practice between lessons. We understand how hard it can be to carve time out for yourself, and we’re proud of you for doing what you can to keep your brain healthy!
MYTH 3: I can’t afford to buy an instrument that I’m not even sure I’ll enjoy:
You aren’t alone in your fear of making a commitment to purchase an instrument! This is why we offer options such as used beginner instruments and payment plans! When you are just starting out, there’s no rush to spend a lot when you have never played before. Come into our store and ask our people about all the choices you have to make learning an instrument a reality!
Are you still not sure that learning an instrument as an adult is worth your time?
You will never hear someone say, “I really wish I hadn’t learned to play an instrument,” but you sure might hear a super common “I wish I had learned to play.”
You deserve to invest in improving your own quality of life, and we hope we will get to partner with you as you discover your love for making music!
